Johns Creek, Exclusive Gated Communities, Will They Go for Higher Taxes?

▲To Tax or not to tax those mega mansions of Johns Creek.

Population: 77,000
Founded: 2006
Mayor: Mike Bodker (Third term – first elected in 2006)
Tax rate cap: 4.731 mills
Current tax rate: 4.614 mills
About Johns Creek: The city was part of a second wave of North Fulton County cities to incorporate. City leaders have stressed the need to address a growing problem with congested and crumbling roads. Members of the city’s Charter Commission recently successfully lobbied to allow a majority of voters to approve a tax increase to raise funds if such a measure is needed. Any tax increase would still have to be approved by a majority of voters in a special referendum. The charter change allows the city some flexibility to catch up on its overtaxed infrastructure.
