BROOKHAVEN CITY MANAGER MAY BE THE HIGHEST PAID CITY MANAGER IN METRO ATLANTA AREA

In six months, she worked 124 hours as a consultant and was paid an additional $24,700.00. Is there a conflict of interst?

Marie Garrett is the new city manager taking over the helm of the newest city in Georgia.

Brookhaven's population of 50,000 has retained her services at a current salary of $214,000 for a four day week, 40 hours in total. If Ms.Garrett worked Fridays, she will be billing the city of Brookhaven $200 an hour through her consulting firm.  She is paid as salaried employee and as a paid consultant.

Mayor Max Davis expressed his support and approval of her job and pay. He did not find any conflict of interest.

▲City councilman Jim Eyre called her arrangments unethical. He resigned his post in protest and walked out of the Council chambers last week during a public hearing.

Calls were made to other cities in the metro Atlanta area.

Johns Creek, population of 82,000, salary is $183,818 a year.  Sandy Springs, popoulation of 99,000, salary is $190,905 a year.

Milton's City Manager, population of 47,000, salary is $150,000 a year.

Dunwoody, population of 47,000, salary is $166,226 a year.
