Marie Garrett is the new city manager taking over the helm of the newest city in Georgia.
Brookhaven's population of 50,000 has retained her services at a current salary of $214,000 for a four day week, 40 hours in total. If Ms.Garrett worked Fridays, she will be billing the city of Brookhaven $200 an hour through her consulting firm. She is paid as salaried employee and as a paid consultant.
Mayor Max Davis expressed his support and approval of her job and pay. He did not find any conflict of interest.
As her pay bacame publicly known at the time, City councilman Jim Eyre called her arrangments unethical. He resigned his post in protest and walked out of the council chambers last week during a public hearing.
Calls were made to other cities in the metro Atlanta area.
Johns Creek, population of 82,000, salary is $183,818 a year. Sandy Springs, popoulation of 99,000, salary is $190,905 a year.
Milton's City Manager, population of 47,000, salary is $150,000 a year.
Dunwoody, population of 47,000, salary is $166,226 a year.
